Exactly. Thinking that we have it nailed is dangerously delusional -- and not only that, but their application in terms of our CURRENT understanding of health is poorly executed.

On our site we break down the ingredient formula and many of its problems. If you want to snack on this, go straight ahead. But I can't be strong enough in urging everyone NOT to use this as a majority (and certainly not entirety) of their diets.

Hey Jason, great points you bring up! Mankind definitely has a long way to go before we know about every phytonutrient and even some of the things we don't yet have words for.

Ignorance is indeed an issue especially when we are ignorant about the fact we are ignorant! Good words of caution.

Loved this podcast, great opener!

I find this guy fascinating. And, we share an interest in improved cognitive function. I look forward to his personal experiments and improved product line.

Here comes the "but,"

People should heed [his] advice about eating real food (I'd suggest whole, unrefined, natural, the way your pre-1900 family may have enjoyed the foods, foods) and look over his suggestion that nutrition isn't that complicated and we've pretty much got it figured out.

Truthfully, we don't know thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of compounds that may present in nature and that we've consumed for thousands of years unknowingly, yet unable to reproduce in labs.

Some day, we may be able to skip whole foods and live on test tube nutrition. Today, that's just not the case.

Oh, you can [live] on whey protein (a product made in cows) and a hand full of micronutrients identified by 20th century technology. But, a myriad of disease may also abate when you consume the thousands of micronutrients seldom researched or produced in labs.

We have very vulgar understandings of "proteins, carbs, fats, and vitamins." Even our classification of foods screams ignorance.

You can improve some biological indications of disease by removing toxins and unregulated nutritional cruft from your diet. If you simply lived on water for 30 days your lipid panel would likely improve dramatically. But, we really don't know what long-term supplement driven nutrition will do for longevity and avoidance of nutritionally related diseases like cancer and heart disease.

Just a word of caution to those people foolish enough to consider a long-term supplement centered dietary plan. It's not likely a path to disease avoidance, but definitely not one well tested [yet].
